Papicha is an intimate and intense look upon the college free-spirited life of young girls, in a country on the verge of a civil war. Anchored in an astounding performance by Lyna Khoudri, the film composes a beautiful portrait of the generations of three Algerian women, including a grandmother that, in some way, we would be lucky enough to call our own. Besides that, it shows how fashion can be political, affirmative, artistic and dangerous when the way we dress and how we behave ourselves, become what defines us.

PACIFICADO, Paxton Winters
Jury's declaration:
Pacificado is a non-conventional police drama, that focuses on the family more than in crime. Although it doesn't get intimidated by the criminal side, it captures the internal scenery as much as the external side of the favelas; the beauty, the fight and the politics adjacent to it all.

The technical quality of the artistic direction and it's connection with the theme for the construction of a strong narrative, in harmony and somnoplasty, made the movie stand out amongst its peers in this section. Acid Rain is a dynamic film, that uses with intelligence the drawing and it's cadency, transmitting a rave-like vibe and the complexity of the life of the characters.

AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE NIGHT, Anton Bialas
Jury's declaration:
At The Entrance of the Night: a sensitive film that does not only dwell upon the problem of emigration from North Africa and the entrance to Europe, but that also creates a history line, symbolic and emotive, that puts us in the extreme that the characters live in, without any resources to violent images, but only through the humanization and poetry of the cinematographic composition, well exploited in it's most experimental form.º

Masry, Mary So Contrary risks and seeks to overcome the limits of the land of dreams by the assembly and the relationship between archive footage and animation. For it's originality, humor and for seeking new ways to build a cinematographic narrative, we award it with an honorable mention.

This small film seduces by the simplicity and objectivity of how it presents us some of the footage of Coruche's Museum revealing, in a small period of time, the expertise in underlying it's value and the strength that an image can have.
