This session comprises of the follow sections: History of Intimacy Coordination, Role of the Intimacy Coordinator, Power Dynamics at work, Power Dynamics, Introduction to the Pillars of Intimacy, Production Requirements.
This session focuses on researched based intimacy for screen, the impact and aftermath of #metoo and the establishing of the role of Intimacy Coordinators in the arts industry. Throughout the history of our industry, abuse of these Power Dynamics led to many instances and cycles of physical, psychological and emotional harm. Joshua will unpack the categories of Power and how to recognise them in the workplace. We cover who holds the Power Dynamic and the impact when these are used both positively and negatively.

Joshua Okpala, one of the first black Intimacy Coordinators in the UK, trained at Intimacy for Stage and Screen. Josh has worked on several popular television shows for both the home and international markets, ensuring that best intimacy practices are carried out on set in a manner that is safe, dynamic and professional. Josh is also the Social Media Coordinator for Intimacy for Stage and Screen ensuring that this work continues to have positive impact across the world.
An alumnus of the Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York, Josh also works with major UK drama schools as a freelance movement coordinator. He is currently working on several high-profile television productions due to be released in the 2021 shooting both in the UK and internationally. You can see his work on Netflix, BBC, Amazon, AMC. His latest shows are This Is Going To Hurt, Anatomy of a Scandal along with many others.
