Jury Statement

Films about love often fall into easy and predictable places, but that's not the case with “First Summer”, by Korean director Heo Ga-young. “First Summer” is an extremely elegant short film, in which the cinematic frame is in constant, perfect dance with the protagonist, brilliantly played by Heo Jin. Everything in the film reveals a sharp eye and a strong desire to tell stories in the best possible way. We are sure the director will keep making more films, and we'll be here to watch them.
