My bed is a prison by Joanna Nepheli da Silva Stamoulis | PRT, DEU | 14’

During the months of October to December 2024, a CCTV camera was filming my every movement as I lay in bed. Slowly, the bed, a symbol of comfort and safety, became my way of hiding from the world and erasing who I was. But no one can hide forever.

Joanna Stamoulis is a feminist Filmmaker and Multimedia Artist based in Berlin, originally half Portuguese and Greek. She is currently finishing my BA in Film Production at Catalyst - Institute for Creative Arts and Technology, graduating with a focus on Directing. Her art is often provocative, aiming to push societal norms and subsequently creating controversial and unique statements. She often describes her works as her intimate diary: It’s ugly, fun, manic, and raw. She hopes to bring more female-lead perspectives into the forefront of any art she makes.
