Rhythm, Texture and Atmosphere: Composing for I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning
24 JUN | 14:30 | ACADEMIA DE MÚSICA
In this session, composer Harry Escott will explore his work on I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, the latest collaboration with filmmaker Clio Barnard. Using the film as a case study, he will reflect on approaches to composition that move beyond traditional scoring, drawing on rhythm, texture and atmosphere to create an emotional and narrative experience.
Through examples from the film, Harry Escott will discuss the creative decisions behind the score and explore the development of a musical language that feels inseparable from the world of the film itself, blurring the boundaries between score, sound and atmosphere.
