"The Bookshop" director Isabel Coixet in focus at FEST 2021

Catalan filmmaker Isabel Coixet will be in focus at the 17th edition of FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival.


To celebrate her work, FEST will exhibit a retrospective of her ouevre, exhibiting, among others, the films: The Bookshop (2017), Nobody Wants the Night (2015), Learning to Drive (2014), Ayer No Termina Nunca (2013), Elegia (2008), The Secret Life of Words (2005), My Life Without Me (2003); and the short No Es Tan Fria Siberia (2016).

Isabel Coixet is considered to be one of the pioneers of the fight for gender equality in the film industry, both internationally and on her home country. She is also one of the founders and Honorary President of EWA - European Woman's Audiovisual Network. The existential conflicts of our times are almost always the focus of her cinema.


FEST will take place in Espinho, between the 4th and the 11th of October. This year, the festival will also be back to the cities of Porto and Lisbon with special screenings of Coixet's work.
