The meeting place for Sound and Music Professionals in Film!
Sound and Music Hub is designed for sound professionals, directors, producers, sound designers, and composers in the area of cinema and television and consists in training activities focusing solely on Sound and Music for Film. With several masterclasses and case studies, led by the best professionals on composing music for films, supervising composing music for films, and immersive sound editing and mixing.
The first edition of Sound and Music Hub took place on the 24th and 25th of June, 2022 as a part of the 18ª edition of FEST - New Directors, New Films Festival. The first edition was hosted by FEST and Sound Particles, with the support and sponsorship of Academia de Música de Espinho and Festival International Music e Cinema Marseille.
Sound Particles is an immersive audio software capable of generating thousands (even millions) of sounds in a virtual 3d audio world. Creating highly complex sounds has never been this quick. It was used in the Hollywood success, and Oscar winner, "Dune". Sound Particles will be our main sponsor, helping us make this activity a reality.
SPEAKERS on the first edition:
Will Files - Sound Designer and Supervising sound editor. "Stranger Things" "Venom" and the most recent “Batman” movie;
Mark Ulano - Sound mixer with a 25-year collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, being an Oscar Nominee for his work in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and "Inglourious Basterds”;
Cyrille Aufort - Composer awarded with an International Emmy Award for best original music in “March of the Penguins 2: The Call”;
Nina Hartstone - Oscar-winning Supervising Sound Editor working in films like “Gravity” and "Bohemian Rhapsody”;
John Warhurst - Oscar-winning Supervising Sound and Music Editor. His film credits include “Sweeney Todd”, “Les Misérables”, “One Direction: This Is Us”, and most recently “Bohemian Rhapsody”;
Lee Herrick - Sound supervisor of films such as Mike Leigh's "Peterloo" and "Mr Turner";
Salome Limon– Producer and Sound Engineer.
The Sound and Music Hub program will soon announce the dates of the 2023 edition.
