Special Screenings

Mistério Negros | Pedro Lino | 12' | PRT
The “mistérios negros” (dark mysteries) are trachemical domes of dark irregular rock, which originated in the eruptions that occurred in the islands of the Azores. This film stages a voyage to the center of the earth, diving into the beginning of the world, in a way that eludes Carthesian logic. Through the landscapes of the Azores, this piece chases the forces of nature and reflects on their relationship with man. The Azores have about 26 active volcanoes. The last great manifestation of these phenomena was in the Capelinhos in 1957, and it is estimated that the next big eruption in the Atlantic will also happen somewhere in these islands.

Cenas de uma vida amorosa | Miguel Afonso | 14' | PRT

Variations on a couple, love making and a house. A love story without a story - Scenes of a Love Life is a collection of episodes examining the intimate day to day life of a young couple. An observation of the varying shades of our attempts at true love.

Os Inúteis | Rui Esperança | 21' | PRT

Alice decides to move to Berlin, and Ema, her roommate, organizes her a farewell dinner, in a tender attempt to come to terms with the inevitable ending of all things.

Häuschen - a herança | Paulo A. M. Oliveira, Pedro Martins | 15' | PRT

Lost in the woods during a stormy night, a young couple, Maria and Miguel, take shelter in a cottage owned by a strange lumberjack with an obsession with breadcrumbs. He persuades them to stay overnight but the idea alarms Miguel, while Maria sees this as the perfect opportunity to spice up their relationship in a place where, apparently, the lumberjack does not live alone.
