15.12.2016

The first 14 films present in the catalogue of the 67th edition of the Berlinale were announced today, in the Competition and berlinale Special Gala sections

As February draws near, the first news of next year’s Berlinale program start to arrive, bringing good news for Portuguese cinema and for FEST’s previous guests. Portugal is already represented in the competition with the film “Colo”, a Portuguese-French co-production, from director Teresa Villaverde, starring Beatriz Batarda, João Pedro Vaz, Alice Albergaria Borges and Clara Jost.

Acclaimed Spanish director Fernando Trueba (“Belle Époque”) - a frequent speaker at FEST who was present in the 2013 and 2015 editions of FEST – Training Ground - will be present in the Berlinale Special Gala with his latest film “La Reina de España”, starring Penélope Cruz, Antonio Resines, Chino Darín, Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Neus Asensi and Ana Belén.

The program also features Pokot (Spoor), by legendary director Agnieszka Holland (“Europa Europa”), as well as Toivon tuolla puolen (The Other Side of Hope), which marks the return of Finland’s film master Aki Kaurismäki, after 2011’s “La Havre”.
