Peter Ghesquière was born in 1980, in Belgium.

He studied directing at Ritcs Filmschool in Brussels and earned his degree in 2004.

His first short film Schijn van de Maan (2004), was selected for the official short film competition at Cannes Film Festival in 2005 and his latest film, Downside Up (2016), was a part of the long list of the 2019 Academy Awards, in the category of Best Action Live Short. The film, that tells the story of a world where everyone has down syndrome, won it’s first ever prize at FEST and went on to win 34 national and international awards in film festivals worldwide.

Peter currently lives in Ghent, Belgium, and works in a variety of formats, that include short films, advertising, and even some works as a 1st Assistant Director.
