Bernardo Lopes is a director and producer at Promenade.

At 13 years old, he come in contact with cinema for the first time when he was invited to be a juror at the 39th edition of Giffoni Film Festival, in Italy.

He was invited by the European magazine Nisimazine to be a film critic at the 61st edition of San Sebastian's International Film Festival, in Spain, as well as at the 67th edition of Cannes, in France. As a result of these experiences, He started collaborating as a critic in C7nema, one of the most important cinema websites in Portugal.

In television, he started his career as part of the Sport TV production team on the coverage of UEFA's Champions League, in Lisbon.

He went back to cinema when he was invited to be a jury in the 71st edition of Venic International Film Festival in the Giornate Degli Autori – Venice Days section. He also becomes the ambassador of Portugal Prize LUX, a distinction attributed by the European Parlament.

Later, that same year, he is selected to be a part of the Essemble – Nomadic Realities and Digital Filmmaking, where he had the opportunity to study cinema in universities such as the Luca School of Arts, in Belgium, IFS – International Filmschool Koln, in Germany, and MOME – Universidade Moholy-Nagy of Art and Design, in Hungary.

The same year, he directed his first short film LUX, that won more than 10 prizes and was selected for more than 60 national and international festivals of cinema (short film Vila do Conde, Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival, Fantasporto).

He directed Yuan Yuan, a documentary short, filmed in China, for the international project Looking China 2015, and that had its international debut in the Chinese American Film Festival, in California.

Before graduating in film and television at ULHT – Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, in Lisbon, he shot his second short-film IVAN, which debuted internationally in the acclaimed Tânger International Cinema Festival, and won several prizes, including Best Director at Chelsea Film Festival, in New York.

His latest works are EVA and MOÇO, a short film with the support of Foundation GDA, which was filmed in November 2018. He is currently raising funds for his first feature film, ÍCARO.
