Rui Poças is best known for his collaboration in Zama (2017), Lucrecia's Martel latest feature film witch premiered at the 74th Venice International Film Festival.

Poças shot Ira's Sachs Frankie (2019), staring Isabelle Huppert, Greg Kinnear, Marisa Tomei and Jérémie Renier, which was premiered that year in Cannes Competition.

Poças is a regular collaborator of the Portuguese filmmakers Miguel Gomes - Our Beloved Month of August (2008) and Tabu (2012) and João Pedro Rodrigues - Phantom, To Die Like a Man (2009), and The Ornithologist (2016), the latter being nominated for Best Film and winning best director in Locarno Film Festival.
