Carlos Reygadas is a Mexican film director and producer. In 2002, he completed his first feature film, Japón, which premiered at the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival, where it received a special mention from the Camera d'Or. In 2005, he premiered his second film, Batalla en el Cielo, in the competition at the Cannes Film Festival. At the same festival in 2007, he received the Jury Prize for Luz Silenciosa, and in 2012 he won the Best Director award for Post Tenebras Lux. In 2018, he premiered Nuestro tiempo in the competition at the Venice Film Festival.

In 2022, he published Presencia, a book about the meaning of cinema. In 2004, he co-produced the first film by Amat Escalante, Sangre. Over the years, he has co-produced films by other directors. Currently, he is preparing Estela de sombra.
