Highlighting the diverse sectors of the film and audiovisual industry in this 20th edition of FEST, we are thrilled to announce the participation of two distinguished professionals on our professional panel in Espinho. Andrew McAlpine, a renowned New Zealander production designer, is celebrated for his work on major films with esteemed directors, such as The Piano (Jane Campion), Clockers (Spike Lee), The Beach (Danny Boyle), An Education, and many more. He has received prestigious accolades, including the AFI Award for Best Achievement in Production Design and the BAFTA Award for Best Production Design for The Piano.
Joining him is David Thackeray, a certified intimacy coordinator known for his contributions to acclaimed series like Sex Education (2020), Heartstopper (2022), and The White Lotus (2022). David has worked on numerous international productions for leading networks including HBO, Netflix, Disney, BBC, and Apple TV+.
They will join our esteemed lineup at FEST 2024, alongside director Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea), Lebanese director Nadine Labaki (Capernaum), Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo, Vantage Point director Pete Travis, Palestinian director Scandar Copti (Ajami), Netflix's Gloria casting director Jo Monteiro, technology and film expert Sami Arpa, Oscar-nominated editor Yorgos Lamprinos, and post-production supervisor Polly Duval (Saltburn, Notes on a Scandal).
