Synopsis:

MIHAI, an aspiring chair designer, sculpts a classical Greek klismos chair, which he only considers complete once someone sits in it. A series of absurd mishaps prevent this from happening. Struggling to balance family life and his dream, Mihai grows paranoid, delaying a visit to his dying GRAN out of fear of death. One night, after helping a child, ALEX, with a nosebleed, the village wrongly accuses him of abuse. In despair, he declares he’ll jail himself if anyone manages to sit on his chair.

The VILLAGERS, confused by his challenge, begin to fear chairs altogether, burning them in a symbolic purge. The klismos becomes a local obsession and an international myth as people queue for weeks to sit, failing while sharing their darkest thoughts with a REPORTER. MONICA, Mihai’s friend, longs for intimacy and begs him to sit her down. A PRIEST offers a corpse in a desperate plea for the chaos to end.

As sitting becomes impossible even for world leaders about to start a war, MIHAI’s MOTHER confesses she never sat because she forgot how. Overcome, Mihai escapes to a hill, where he realizes, too late, that his beloved GRAN has passed.
