How to not win the elections despite being a populist leader that did everything right.
Synopsis:
The year 2024, in which Romania faced all possible types of elections, finds the controversial populist party AUR in a favorable position to challenge the current political order. Built around the popularity of its charismatic leader, former activist George Simion, the party’s campaign actions take advantage of the people’s disappointment of the current government.
Under Simion's iron rule, AUR puts on an increasingly demanding and absurd election campaign: Simion's promise to build one million developer-priced apartments if elected president is overshadowed by AUR's efforts to aid flood victims in Galați County—all leading to a shockingly low election result and the resounding success of Călin Georgescu, a virtually unknown and even more right-wing populist than Simion.
Initially Simion declares his support for Georgescu, only for the elections to be cancelled because of him and alleged fraud. This gives Simion a second chance, only to be defeated again, this time in the second round.
