Tagline:
“Coragem Hoje, Abraços Amanhã” is a story of courage and resilience, created through real stories, in which we follow seven women who lived through the Portuguese dictatorship.
Synopsis:
Long feature film, in three acts, strongly based in real facts lived by women in the antifascist struggle, during the 48 years of the Portuguese dictatorship, specifically between 1933 and 1974 – the New State Period.
The script is based on a monologue with the same title. Written, staged and interpreted by Joana Brandão (nominated for second best written text for Theatre, in 2014 – Prizes SPA (Portuguese Society of Authors), elaborated from real testimonies of women who were arrested and tortured by the Secret Police of the New State (PIDE).
The film follows the story of several women, in different times, where their narratives cross paths, not considering the timeline but the events themselves.
In any of the three acts, we see the story of some of these women, focusing on the narration of the events, when they actually occur, including information about the year, but showing that, throughout those 48 years, the processes repeated themselves: moment when they get arrested, interrogations and jails.
The narrative will be fragmented, showing that several women lived this reality, but the dramaturgic construction will define the action from these three moments – three acts.
