C'est pas la vie en rose, by Leonor Bettencourt Loureiro, will close FEST 2025 with a sharp and provocative look at contemporary Lisbon. In her return to the festival, the director presents a biting satire - a fake documentary where genres are confused, languages are mixed and the message is clear: we're screwed.

Through the story of a successful foreign band that decides to move to Lisbon, the film dives into the reality of a city in transformation: looted, gentrified and less and less habitable for those who were born in it. Tourism, real estate and profit take over, while Lisboners watch from the sidelines - if they can still afford to stay.

Between absurdity, dystopia and a good dose of black humor, C'est pas la vie en rose invites us to laugh (and cry) at the subtle violence of the urban reality of 2025. It's Portuguese, but it could be anywhere in the world. It's a movie, but it's also a mirror.
