Until the day of the Carnation Revolution, the historic April 25, 1974, the Portuguese were forced to follow the rules of dictatorship. But on that day, the dictatorial Estado Novo regime, in place since 1933, was overthrown and the country's history entered a new chapter.

The coup was prepared by the Armed Forces Movement (MFA), made up mostly of captains who had taken part in the Colonial War, with the support of militia officers and the huge support of the population, who refused to stay at home.

As there was almost no resistance from the regime, there was little violence. However, although little is said about it, freedom cost the lives of five people - including a soldier, a university student and an administrative official - who were surprised by the bullets of the DGS (the political police created in 1969 to replace the PIDE) during the siege of their headquarters.

Directed by Rui Pedro Sousa, who co-wrote the screenplay with Amp Rodriguez, the film's plot is based on real events and follows the victims between April 24 and 26, 1974, from the start of the Revolution to the date of their funerals.
