FEST - Pitching Forum 2017: a retrospective
07.02.2018

The 2017 edition of FEST – Pitching Forum was the most sucessful one to date. It counted around 200 project submissions coming from the four corners of the world, out of which 28 were selected.

In the producers panel were represented some of the biggest names in the portuguese and international industry, such as David e Golias, Cinemate, Farol de Ideias, Ukbar Filmes, Costa do Castelo, Cimbalino Filmes, Filmógrafo, Periferia Filmes, Optec, Jump Willy e Wondr, as well as NOS Lusomundo Audiovisuais, ICA (Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual) and Creative Europe.

It was very exciting to see the participants exchange ideas and business cards not only with eachother, but also with international producers, like Paul Miller, Jen Gatien, Jennifer Parker, Marek Novák and the internationally acclaimed post-production houses Envy, Goldcrest and Halo

After three days of training and two of intense pitching, nine projects were highlighted. In the Shorts session, the Goldcrest Films Post-Production Award was atribuited to Dimitra Stavropoulos (GRC) "Later Aphrodites"; the FEST Film Lab Award, went to "The Hunt" from Sholeh Zahrael and Kamil Saldun (CYP) and the Mentorship Award to Maria Golos (POL) "Relax".

In the Documentary session, the Envy Post-Production went to "Nijole" from Maria Cecilia Reyes and Sandro Bozzolo (LTU/ITA/COL); the FEST Film Lab went to "Santacana" from Daniel Fernandez-Cañadas (ESP); and the Mentorship Award was atribuited to "Positive Racism" from Amal Al Agroobi (ARE).
