Lullaby | Alauda Ruiz De Azúa | ESP | 104'
One of the big hits of the moment in Sain, “Lullaby” tells us the story of a young woman, Amaia, who just become a mother. When her partner is forced to move away for work, the pressures of motherhood begin to take its toll. Desperate with her state of affairs, Amaia returns to her parent's house in the Basque coast. But sometimes the role of a daughter is just as hard as the role of a mother.
This intimate drama is fueled by a series of extraordinary performances by Laia Costa and Susie Sánchez, and premiered at this year’s Berlinale, and won 6 awards at Malaga Film Festival. Pedro Almodovar himself has described it as “The best Spanish debut feature in years”.
So much success marks a great arrival of the director, Alauda Ruiz De Azúa, who has become an instant household name, and from whom much is expected in the future.
