Public Film Funding At A Crossroads

Tomas Eskilsson - FEST PRO Masterclass

22 JUN // 10:00 // Auditorium Centro Multimeios Espinho

Film Industry Role: Founder and CEO Film i Väst;

Major Works: "Another Round" (2020) and "The Worst Person in the World" (2021);

Public film funding is at a crossroads. The world is changing dramatically and rapidly, and the urgent challenge is to find a new balance between history/the old world and future expansion/the new world, while catering for the needs, and embracing the opportunities of the present. In this session we will explore the current reality of public finance available, and what the future might be holding for a new generation of filmmakers.

The report ‘Public Film Funding at A Crossroads’ and the two side studies ‘Streaming Giants and Public Film Funding’ and ‘Creative Overload’ could be downloaded for free: analysis.filmivast.se or via: filmivast.se. There you can also find the ten territorial reports (Eastern Europe, German speaking Europe, Greece and Cyprus, Flanders and Netherlands, French speaking Europe, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain, The Nordics, and UK). I recommend the participants to take a look at the main report ‘Public Film Funding at A Crossroads’ before the talk.
