Synopsis

Alexandra and Miguel have been meeting regularly and passionately for a few weeks now. A little older than the girl, Miguel begins to develop specific and definite expectations for their future. She, however, is still trying to figure out exactly where the relationship is taking her. This disconnection between the two catalyses a difficult confrontation, one which will mark them both for life. Um Retrato de Borboletas, by Portuguese director Henrique Prudêncio, reflects on women’s freedom, transformative relationships, their consequences, and different ways of loving.
