Synopsis

Abeo is a hard-hitting mixed media animated short that depicts the journey of Nadia and Lupe, two immigrants who risked their lives to cross the Arizona desert in search of a better life. On a technical level, Brenda Lopez’s work is an unquestionable triumph, mixing
stop-motion techniques with traditional sand painting artistry, all with rare ease. But Abeo’s true strength is when this visual ensemble is translated into a drama, that sets itself apart from most tragic stories coming from the US-Mexican border. This is a contemporary tale of one of the great exodus of the 20th century.
