Manuel Mozos studied History and Philosophy before graduating in Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, where he specialised in Editing.
His first film, Um Passo, Outro Passo e Depois... (1989) marked the beginning of his career as a director and earned him the Brelfort Festival's Grand Prize in 1990.
In 1991 he started working in Xavier, his first feature film. However, it was only released in 2003, five years after the release of his second feature film Quando Troveja (1998).
The portuguese director was invited to participate in several national and international film festivals, having won several awards like the Georges de Beauregards' International Prize (2009) and the award for Best Portuguese Feature Film in IndieLisboa'09.
In 2009, he directed the documentary Ruínas and debuted 4 Copas.
Manuel Mozos also directed Cinzas e Brasas (2015) and A Glória de Fazer Cinema em Portugal (2015).
