With a background in Law, and a Master Degree in Scriptwriting for Film and Television from the University of Southern California, Gonçalo Galvão Teles quickly became a reference in Portuguese cinema due to his extensive writing and academic work.

His first glimpse of success came with the release of A Suspeita (2000), an animated short film that would go on to give him a major recognition at the prestigious Cartoon D’or event, amongst many others.

He is one of Portugal’s most accomplished Television writers, with major hits such as Teorema de Pitágoras (2001), Jogo da Glória (2002) and A Noiva (2000), which he also co-directed.

O Outro Lado do Arco-íris (2004), a short film directed by himself, received the 'The Don Quixote Award' by the International Federation of Film societies.

He has also produced several films, including the very successful Tudo Isto É Fado (2004), directed by his father, a legendary figure in the Portuguese film scene.

His 2016 film Gelo was widly recognized and acclaimed, taking home many awards and nominations.
