Patrushkha Mierzwa is one of the first women boom operators in Hollywood, having started during the days of film and analog sound (Nagra) for Roger Corman. She has worked with Martin Scorsese, as well as directors Robert Altman, Robert Rodriquez, Roger Corman, James Gray and Quentin Tarantino. They all have specific ideas about sound and it's part of her job to interpret what they want, even if they don't know how to convey it.

She has given workshops at film schools in China, Ireland, Mexico, Portugal, Los Angeles, Arizona, Maine, Oslo, London, Rome, Paris, Bath, Bristol, and New York City on the responsibilities of a Boom Operator and Utility Sound Technician, but the most important thing taught is her shared approach to the Philosophy of Sound. She explains the performance work skills necessary to succeed under a fast production schedule with A-list talent. She was part of the sound team for AD ASTRA and ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, both Oscar-nominated for sound. Her latest projects are I WANNA DANCE WIITH SOMEBODY and Martin Scorsese’s KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON. Ms. Mierzwa has been working to build a global sound community for 40 years and written books on both Utility/ A2 work and Boom Operating/A1.

Upcoming books are one on general film production and one for directors.
