With roughly 30 masterclasses, workshops and ateliers lectured by some of the film industry’s most celebrated professionals, FEST - Training Ground offers a platform for filmmakers, film professionals, and film students to develop their skills and share their experiences in a friendly environment.
For the 16th edition of FEST, in view of the current reality, and with the safety and health of our participants and guests being our top priority, the Training Ground was postponed to next year, since we considered that the necessary conditions for the usual and ideal functioning were not met.
The main goal of FEST is and will continue to be, to create a learning and networking space that everyone can enjoy, but as close physical contact is necessary for that, in good conscience we chose to postpone and, alternatively, decided to present during the year, and in an online format, new initiatives to create this space for discussion and exchange of knowledge.
The program of Training Ground includes experts and topics that cover a wide variety of subjects, including film directing, production, scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, sound design, production design, acting, casting, non-fiction filmmaking, makeup, distribution, financing and much more. Each participant can tailor their individual program according to their interests and priorities.
In past editions, Training Ground has hosted sessions from distinguished guests such as Asghar Farhadi, Béla Tarr, Melissa Leo, Ritesh Batra, Fernando Trueba, Allan Starski, Christopher Hampton, Roman Coppola, Finola Dwyer, Stephen Warbeck, and Stuart Dryburgh (→ see more speakers from previous years here).
Each session is different and interactive, providing those attending an insight into the process of some of the greatest creative minds in the world.
