Shakwa is a stressful, vivid short that raises the conversation around sexual violence within marriage in a part of the world that rarely hears it. It follows a woman in today’s patriarchal Beirut as she walks into a brutish police station full of men. Hesitantly, she says she wants to report a rape, but the reaction she expects is not quite the one she’ll get.
