Premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival, A Barefoot Buddha tells an ancient story about the beautiful things that are overlooked in our daily lives. Reviving an old art – the Buddhist murals in Dunhuang – through digital animation and transcending linguistic barriers through the heartfelt voice of a traditional shadow-play singer, the film follows a young man on his Buddhist quest towards a thought-provoking truth.
