England, 1959. Based on Penelope Fitzgerald's homonymous novel, it tells the story of Florence Green, a widow who decides to open a bookstore in a quiet English town, which annoys some of the locals, such as Violet Gamart, a poisonous woman who will try anything to interfere with her project. Nevertheless, Florence will meet Mr. Brundish, a loyal customer with whom she will establish a special relationship. The film won three Goya Awards: Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
