Synopsis
After being notified of the critical hospitalization of her estranged grandfather, Ana abandons her life and her broken marriage in Brazil to return home to Portugal, for the first time in 15 years.
Desperate to reconnect with her roots and forget her present, she embarks on a road trip across the country to fulfill her grandfather’s last wishes.
Traveling through the remote parts of Portugal in her grandfather’s old hippie van, Pepa Mozquita, she is confronted and reminded of the life she left behind at every turn. Struggling to reconcile her own self-perception and dreams with those of society and the reality of who she has become, the journey leads Ana to rediscover her own native culture and identity.
This feel-good, road trip film is set between the hectic city of São Paulo and the beautiful raw landscapes of Portugal, in which time seems to have stood still. With comedic tones, it is an homage to women and their struggle in wearing the different faces that are forced upon them by society. We want to celebrate the strengths of women and the beauty of being yourself.
