FESTinha Competition
31.05.2017

Our trip through this year's film program is reaching its end, but not without first revealing our final two sections. Today we'll focus on FESTinha, our series of competitive screenings focused on our younger audiences.

Four screenings in total, each dedicated to a particular age group of children or teenagers, make up this very special selection, where through a collective workshop method the audience will decide on four worthy winners.

This section, where the animation genre plays a major role, includes some truly extraordinary works such as the Brazilian wonder “Way of Giants” by Alois di Leo, a film of immense beauty that will bring our young audience to the refreshing depths of the Amazon rainforest. France is by far the most represented nation on this section, with films such as the hilariously fun “Indice 50” and the staggering “Pas a Pas” providing a great window into a country that consistently is at the forefront of the animation universe. But this section is not just about animation, with several short live action films also making into the selection, and there is no lack of diversity here either. From the experimental exciting journey of “Stunt Manual” by Ben Fernandez or the Portuguese daring comedy “Schlboski” by Tomás Andrade e Sousa, the teenage section will be surprising many this year.
