New Directors | New Films
Daily Program - June 26th
26.06.2019

We have now arrived at day three of FEST.

Today is the day we launch our Director's Hub section, one of the new add-ons to the festival. With a full panel addressing several issues and challenges around film direction, for this Wednesday we welcome the experience of Portuguese André Gil Mata on Drvo, his latest film, the advises of Tim Corie and Antoine Russbach on script development, and the discussion between Anais Blondet, See Wee Aw, Marc Serena and Mohamed Kordofani around the place a filmmaker has as a society driving force.

With the festival now running from the morning to late night, be sure to plan your day ahead. Our suggestion would be for you to take some time to experience the immersive cinema experiences we've prepared for the Spatium Room at 11 AM, Dynamic Earth.

Throughout the day we'll be looking over at the short film panorama, from the school works of NEXXT competition to the Documentary and Fiction official selection, stopping on some of the best films we've seen here in Espinho since we've started of Be Kind Rewind.

Overlooking our Training Ground schedule, double presentation for Gareth Wiley's sharing his knowledge on how to structure financing in film production; close inside look into social realism editing with one of the names that invested it, Jonathan Morris; a general picture on the strategies to direct actors, with Pete Travis; and the personal experience of Baltasar Kormarkur on how to create a career as a filmmaker.

This will also be the day where we launch our Director's Hub section, one of the new add-ons to the festival.

At night do not forget to choose the feature film from the competition you would like to discover. Born in Evin follows Maryam Zaree on her quest to find out the true nature of the violent circumstances surrounding her birth in the most notorious political prison in Iran. Blind Spot is a story about the grey zones in mental illness; the blind spots hard to discover, as experienced by a mother realizing her daughter is struggling with far worse issues than she realized.
